The Phillies – Poised to win yet another division title

September 21st, 2010 by Lukas B

The Atlanta Braves are three games in back of the Phillies, and as fate would have it the two teams are preparing to meet six more times before the end of the season, heading towards the World Series. The first of the two begins tonight.

The Braves must take at least two of three games from the Phillies in this current series to stay alive in the eastern division. One notch down from the division championship race is the wild card race; here we have the Braves leading the San Francisco Giants by two games.
Atlanta will be fighting from the ropes when they send Jair Jurrjens, 7-6 with a dull 4.64 earned run average on the season against a devastating Philadelphia lineup. Jurrjens’ recent nine hit appearance against the Nationals is sending the message that the Braves will need to win the game by playing offense, not defense. Bravehearts

The stars of world snooker are showcasing their talents in Glasgow and despite some top players already falling by the wayside, the field remains extremely strong and highly competitive amongst those still fighting it out for the £100,000 first prize. O’Sullivan faces Mark King in his opening game and only a brave man would bet against him featuring in the draw for the next round. Read More »

As the two teams battled to open Monday night football season, the Chargers disappointed as they fell against the strong Kansas City offense.

Although, they were favored by football betting odds as the away favourite prior to the game, the Chargers were ill prepared to handle the thorough onslaught and fell short in answering relentless KC drives. Read More »

D (Deadline) Day

September 5th, 2010 by Dan S

This summer was relatively quiet as far as football transfer activity goes, prompting Rio Ferdinand to name it the ‘recession window’ as opposed to the more conventional ‘transfer window’ by which we know it. Rich boys Manchester City handed out the expected fortunes in the form of transfer fees and contracts, along with which there were few surprises.

Most shocking, perhaps, was the failure of Arsenal to bring-in a proven goalkeeper with both Premier and Champions League experience, despite spending the whole summer courting Fulham’s Aussie international Mark Schwarzer amongst others, and their cheeky neighbours Tottenham waiting until the eleventh hour to table an offer of £8m for Raphael van der Vaart – which, if reports are to be believed, was a cool £10m less than previous bids from the likes of Bayern, Schalke and Bremen!
