The stars of world snooker are showcasing their talents in Glasgow and despite some top players already falling by the wayside, the field remains extremely strong and highly competitive amongst those still fighting it out for the £100,000 first prize. This year, and for the first time in a world snooker ranking event, amateurs were welcome to enter and had to overcome two qualification rounds to assure their place in the main draw.
The format of the World Open has been adjusted to make matches best of 5 frames until the final which will be best of 9, and the quick play will no doubt benefit both Ronnie ‘The Rocket’ O’Sullivan and Neil ‘The Thunder from Down Under’ Robertson.
