The iconic name of baseball hall of famer Ted Williams will never be the same, and for good reason. This week sports enthusiasts were introduced to an endearing story that read like a fairy tale from a Disney series.
The story, which has now spread virally on YouTube begins with a recovering alcoholic holding a barley legible card board sign on a highway in Ohio. Cars passed Ted Williams daily as he stood and entertained drivers with his captivating, vintage radio voice. His personal story spread with blinding speed and before long Williams found himself in the executive suite of the NBA Cleveland Cavaliers with an offer to announce games on their behalf.

LeBron James left Cleveland, Ohio without a title and without the respect he deserved, or so he thought. The man formerly called the “chosen one” by Cleveland fans will be returning to his former city tonight for a game against the city that once adored him.
A needless rejection of the Cavaliers organization is the sentiment many former fans feel. In expectation of sporadic, mischievous acts intended to protest his presence in Cleveland, extra security will be on hand during the game. With 20,500 fans expected, it only takes one person to set off an abrupt demonstration of collective disappointment towards LeBron. As we count down to the FIBA Basketball World Championships being held in Turkey later this month, the matter causing the most confusion at present is precisely who will play point guard for team USA? It’s not like the country with the most successful league in the world are short of options, but ask anyone who’s ever tried to create a dream team, in any sport, too much choice usually equals a headache for the selector!
Team USA national director Jerry Colangelo has until August 26 to trim the roster to its final 12 players. Those 12 players will represent the U.S. in the country’s first major international basketball tournament since the 2008 Beijing Olympics, in which the USA won (an expected) gold medal.
