The Davis Cup finals, which began on December 3rd between France and host Serbia, are now wrapping up the excitement with two more matches to end the tournament. The Slavic country marked this international tennis event to be more than a classic sports match between two countries; for Serbia it has become a national symbol of the country’s progression after years of instability.

Twenty year old Dane Caroline Wozniacki is on the verge of making history. A quarter-final appearance at the upcoming China Open in Beijing will be sufficient to see her replace Serena Williams as the women’s world number one.
Playing what she considers to be ‘the best tennis of her life’, Wozniacki has so far scooped five titles this season and confesses to the fact that she will realise a lifelong dream should she top the rankings by mid-October: ‘The number one ranking is something that has always been a goal for me’ and the gorgeous Dane showed her resilience and ability yet again in Tokyo’s Pan Pacific Open final, as she fought back from a set down to beat Russian talent Elena Dementieva 1-6, 6-2, 6-3. Wimbledon 2010 is preparing to impress once again. Slated to begin on June 21, the British tennis tournament will display the class and skill of Roger Federer, the top favourite, searching for his 7th title at SW19. However, his recent losses – an early exit from the Rolland Garros and the crushing defeat to Lleyton Hewitt at ATP Halle – could have some other big rivals thinking about taking the prestigious trophy.
For starters there is Rafael Nadal to contend with. His impressive win in France proved that Nadal has overcome the injuries he suffered from last year, and once again found his lethal rhythm, which could very well bring him a second Wimbledon title.
